About this artwork

You Are Spring is an abstract-figurative painting built from interwoven shapes, sweeping lines and luminous layers of green, turquoise, blue, pink and soft yellow. Rather than presenting a clearly defined landscape or figure, the composition creates a fluid visual environment in which forms seem to emerge, dissolve and reappear. Green dominates the painting, suggesting growth, vitality and renewal, while areas of pink and pale yellow introduce warmth and tenderness. Curving dark lines move across the surface like branches, pathways, vines or traces of movement, connecting different parts of the composition. Beneath these lines, fragmented shapes suggest bodies, plants, reflections or pieces of an interior space, but they remain deliberately ambiguous. The painting avoids conventional perspective. Instead, depth is created through overlapping forms, shifting colour fields and repeated gestures. This makes the image feel both spatial and emotional, as though the viewer were entering a landscape formed from memory and sensation rather than physical reality. The work moves between abstraction and figuration, creating an atmosphere that is energetic yet intimate. Spring is not represented as a season outside the self, but as a state of renewal emerging from within.

The idea behind You Are Spring comes from the belief that “spring” can describe more than a season. It can also represent a person, a feeling, or a moment that brings warmth, hope and renewal into one’s life. I wanted to explore spring not through flowers, trees or familiar natural imagery, but through colour, movement and emotional association. The painting is constructed from overlapping forms and continuous lines, allowing different visual elements to coexist without a fixed hierarchy. Green becomes the central emotional colour, symbolising growth and regeneration, while pink, yellow and blue introduce softness, affection and changing states of mind. The forms remain partially recognisable but never fully defined, because I am interested in the space between memory and perception. The title You Are Spring can be addressed to another person, but it can also be understood more broadly. “You” may refer to someone who brings change into our lives, to a remembered presence, or even to the self rediscovering the possibility of beginning again. For me, the work is ultimately about emotional renewal. It suggests that spring does not only arrive through nature; sometimes it appears through connection, memory, love, or the moment when life begins to feel possible again.
